When I was thirteen my dad gave me my first camera. I remember he took me to a state park for my first real photo outing. This was before the internet, so to learn more I read books about photography, took photography classes, and I would ask my twin sister to pose for me. When I was in high school, I found myself winning photo contests and loving all the shots I took of my friends. I especially liked working in the dark room that was for science club members, which I was proudly a member of!

Fast forward I received a degree in engineering, kept photographing people and places, and married a wonderful man. We had a son, and I always had a camera in hand. During those years a little voice always made me wonder what it would be like as a professional photographer; I followed that voice and here I am!

Though I’ve had my work published in regional and national magazines, it’s the interaction with my portrait subjects and making an impactful image that is most meaningful.

I like the expression “Put Your Best Face Forward”, which can mean showing the uniqueness and greatness that you offer. As a photographer of people that’s what I seek to capture.
